Macleay Island is part of the Redland City, Queensland and the second largest island in the group of islands known as the Southern Moreton Bay Islands (SMBI). Perulpa Island is attached to Macleay Island by a causeway and is held as a part of Macleay Island.
Macleay Island has great natural beauty including sandy beaches, rainforest, rocky shores, mangrove foreshores and views to the mainland, North Stradbroke Island and towards Moreton Island.
All four islands known as the SMBI’s are situated in the Moreton Bay Marine Park.
Macleay boasts a range of recreational and commercial precincts.
Macleay Island is known for the largest group of artists in such a small community. They boast over 250 artists with a population of approximately 4000.
