Bay Islands Community Services Inc (BICSI) welcomes you.

Bay Islands Community Services Inc. (known by many as BICSI) is situated on Russell and Macleay Islands and staffed by 112 volunteers and 1 permanent staff, Doris Etheve-Birnie (Acting Manager). 

We have serviced the islands since 1994; are a not-for-profit and registered charitable organisation.

We provide a range of services to the Islands of Russell, Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra. We have two community centres, one on Russell Island and the other on Macleay Island.

On Macleay Island you will find the Australian Services Agency – ph (07) 3409 4990, an Op Shop, Cafe and plant Nursery – ph. (07) 3409 5613.

The Russell Island centre hosts head office – ph. (07) 3409 1177, an op shop and coffee corner. We have a function room where a variety of activities are held weekly and consult rooms for various consultants.

We assist our community with emergency assistance, provide office related services, have visiting health services, provide placement for: over 55’s on Job Seeker, community service workers, work-for-the-dole and rehab. Annually we hold and facilitate a number of community events and have weekly activities.

The Centrelink Agency on Macleay Island provides all your Centrelink and Medicare needs with a helpful staff of fully trained volunteers.

BICSI is a not-for-profit registered charitable organisation is funded through the Op Shops and by government departments and grants. The monies collected are fed back into the island communities through a large variety of methods including but not limited to, emergency relief, 2 large events each year for the island children at Easter and Christmas. 

Seniors events, Christmas food hampers, free administration and insurance for auspiced groups. Providing facilities for groups and other services to hold their activities and services. Covers general administrative, buildings and infrastructure costs etc. 

The Southern Moreton Bay Islands

Our islands of Russell, Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra are situated in Moreton Bay off Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. They are known locally as the SMBI or Southern Moreton Bay Islands.  

Access to the islands are by Translink passenger ferry services and Stradbroke Ferries (Sealink) vehicular barges. Passenger ferries are approximately every half hour from early morning to late evening and is a 20-30 minute trip.

The islands have all the privileges of services that the mainland has including rubbish removal, reticulated water and electricity.  

The two larger islands of Russell and Macleay boast supermarkets, medical centres, primary schools, libraries, fuel stations, cafes, restaurants, ambulance service (Kitty Kat catamaran), vets and various clubs.

BICSI meets community needs through providing a service of Emergency assistance, Services Australia Agency, Community events, Auspicing groups and clubs, 

Office services, Consultants rooms, Function rooms, Admin – fax and photocopying services, Op shops, Cafe and Nursery.
